Introducing DJ BlackOut:

 

Born Winston Thomas in Freeport, NY, DJ BlackOut’s roots trace back to Jamaica through his parents. Starting in New York, he gained traction spinning at high school parties and clubs. A fateful encounter with Wyclef Jean led to joining the Refugee Camp as a DJ, kickstarting his touring career.

 

Transitioning to production during his time with the Refugee Camp, BlackOut’s hobby became his forte. Rising in the DJ industry, touring with Jada Kiss for three years. A pivotal moment came in South Beach, FL, where he handed a CD of beats to Ja Rule, igniting his career as a music producer. One of his beats made it onto Ja Rule’s “Blood In My Eye” album.

 

Establishing his own production company, Blackout Movement, propelled BlackOut. One year later, the company produced the debut album from hip-hop artist Mims, featuring the worldwide hit “This Is Why I’m Hot.” Since then, DJ BlackOut has collaborated with top industry artists, signing to Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday record label in 2012.
